Grand Banks to Launch Two New Models at 2006 Miami International Boat Show PDF Print E-mail
All-New 39 Eastbay SX, 59 Aleutian RP Add to the Excitement of GB's 50th Anniversary Year Seattle, WA – November 10, 2005 – - Grand Banks Yachts will kick off their 50th Anniversary year with the launch of two hotly anticipated new models in February, 2006. The 59 Aleutian RP is the latest addition to the company's growing Aleutian Series of luxury blue water cruisers. Meanwhile,
the all-new 39 Eastbay SX replaces the 38EX and HX models that launched the Eastbay Series for Grand Banks in 1993. "The original 38EX made quite a splash with its Ray Hunt design, teak toe rails, sophisticated styling and classic downeast looks," said Neil McCurdy, Vice President of Sales for Grand Banks. "And the speed - a Grand Banks that could do 30 knots!" The all-new 39 Eastbay SX represents the evolution of an icon. Like her predecessors, she combines ageless design with high performance like no other boat in her class. But this 2006 model also includes many new features to accommodate a small family or weekend getaway. A longer, larger deckhouse encompasses a spacious helm deck with bright new interiors. The salon opens to a roomy dinette that converts to a double berth, across from a galley that is cleverly angled to maximize stowage and ease-of-use. The large master cabin features an island berth, and the head offers the bonus of a fully enclosed shower. Her graceful, sweeping lines are echoed by curved glass on the deckhouse, molded cockpit seating and new oval portlights. Overall, the 39SX brings new "curve appeal" to the Eastbay Series. All that beauty is complemented by the brawn of her standard twin 455-hp Cat C-7's, powering the 39SX to well over 30 knots. Not to be outshined, the 59 Aleutian RP will join the 39SX for its Miami debut. The 59RP shares many distinguishing features of the Aleutian Series: a Portuguese bridge, fine teak interiors and a powerful engine package. For seaworthy performance across open waters, the hull is expertly built of solid fiberglass below the waterline and closed-cell foam cored construction above. The ingenious split-level upper deck of the 59RP provides for a spacious salon, with a well-equipped galley, dining area and double helm positions on the upper level. Her lower deck holds two double cabins with en-suite facilities, a twin cabin and a separate day head. Fine teak joinery is complemented by soft bulkhead panels, luxurious fabrics and high quality fixtures and fittings. Both new models follow close on the heels of the acclaimed new 44 Heritage EU, which debuted at the 2005 Fort Lauderdale show. The 44EU will also be featured at the Miami show, where Grand Banks plans and enthusiastic launch for their 50th Anniversary celebration with owners and enthusiasts from around the world.
