VANCOUVER, BC– Xantrex Technology Inc. (TSX:XTX) is expanding its state-of-the-art line of marine battery chargers with the introduction of additional 12 volt and 24 volt models designed specifically for use by boat builders. The Xantrex BC Series Battery Chargers were created for the marine manufacturing market, are designed to withstand extreme marine conditions, and are easy to install.
These BC Battery Chargers are an expansion of the Xantrex XC Series of
“smart” battery chargers launched in May of this year. They have this “smart” designation because both families of chargers have the unique capability to charge up to three different battery types simultaneously and extend battery life by independently controlling the charge profile for each battery bank.
The XC and new BC Battery Chargers automatically adjust to a wide range of international AC power sources and have power factor correction, which allows them to be installed on boats operating anywhere in the world.
“The BC Battery Chargers are targeted specifically at the needs of boat builders,” said Brian Ulrich, Xantrex product manager. “We know this expanded product line will be well-received by boat builders because these chargers are designed for international use, and are highly reliable and easy to install. This will translate into lower operating, warranty, and inventory costs for most boat builders.”
Versatile enough to be installed either horizontally or vertically, the BC Chargers can be installed in virtually any compartment or space on a boat. Mounting templates make installation quick and easy, while an optional remote panel, intelligent shunt, and temperature sensors allow builders to customize the system to their requirements.
The BC Chargers also feature a versatile, drip-proof design that can be used in a wide variety of boating conditions. Fuse-less reverse polarity protection, IP32 moisture protection, and extensive regulatory certifications like UL and e-Mark also mean these chargers meet global safety and reliability standards.
The new BC Battery Chargers will debut at the International Boatbuilders Exposition (IBEX) in Miami, Florida from October 19 to 21, 2005. Attendees can view the battery chargers at the Xantrex booth #773. The new BC Charger will be available to purchase at the end of October, 2005.
