Grand Banks Yachts Unveils New 44 Heritage EU PDF Print E-mail
Seattle, WA – June 14, 2005 – Grand Banks Yachts today announced the launch of a new addition to its iconic Heritage Series, the Grand Banks 44 Heritage EU. A noteworthy successor to the highly popular Grand Banks 42 Heritage model, the GB44EU will make its debut during the upcoming fall boat show season. In appearance, the new GB44 continues the proudly nautical styling that has made the GB42 one of the most successful production cruising yachts of all time. This is, however, a completely new model-starting from the keel up with a modified deep-V planing hull.
The Sparkman & Stephens-designed hull was extensively tank tested and optimized to speeds above 25 knots. "Customers are putting more and more horsepower into our Heritage yachts," said Bob Livingston, Grand Banks chairman and CEO. "Their increasing demand for speed and performance, style and luxury, inspired us to create this outstanding new boat." The GB44 is available with standard twin 455-hp engines and a long list of other equipment typically optional on other yachts in this class. With optional 500-hp diesels on board, the GB44 has reached speeds upwards of 24 knots in sea trials. The solid fiberglass hull features a more raked and flared bow, twin propeller tunnels and underwater exhaust-all designed for a supremely safe, quiet and comfortable ride. Inside, the 15'-3" beam is more than a foot wider than the GB42, and translates to spacious accommodations with outstanding visibility. Below deck the GB44EU offers two staterooms and two heads with full showers, including a private en suite in the master cabin. The overall interior, with styling by Design Unlimited (UK), is lighter, brighter and more contemporary throughout. "This is one of the most important new models we have ever launched," said Mr. Livingston. "So much innovative thinking and high-quality work has gone into this boat. It represents the next generation for our Heritage series, which has been hugely popular among boaters around the world." Over 3,000 Heritage yachts have been sold since the series was introduced over 40 years ago. The new 44EU is designed and built on the company's "Europa" styling. The 44CL, designed in Grand Banks' classic trawler style with an aft trunk cabin, will be released in early 2006.
