KNOXVILLE, Tenn., (Feb. 24, 2005) -- Sea Ray Boats announced today that it is the recipient of the prestigious J.D. Power and Associates award for "Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Express Cruisers" for the third time. For the purpose of this study, express cruisers were defined as cruising-style family boats 24 to 33 feet, with sleeping, galley/cooking and head facilities.
The award announcement, held in conjunction with the recently completed 2005 Miami International Boat Show, indicated that this year, Sea Ray earned the award based on achieving the highest customer satisfaction index ranking in the segment with a score of 805. As in past studies, Sea Ray led the express cruisers segment in overall boat satisfaction. Additionally, Sea Ray was rated highest in five of the seven individual feature categories, including ride and handling, helm and instrument panel, cabin, engine and maintenance. Sea Ray's express cruisers were also rated highest in quality, with the lowest number of reported problems.
According to J.D. Power and Associates, Sea Ray's performance in the Express Cruiser segment is especially noteworthy since this segment is, on average, the most complex and problematic in the study. Sea Ray also has the highest reported customer loyalty among express cruiser owners, with the highest percentage of owners indicating they would definitely repurchase or recommend the brand to others.
As she received the award on behalf of Sea Ray, Cynthia M. Trudell, president of Sea Ray remarked, "This is a tremendous honor to have been recognized in the express cruisers category for the third time. As honored as we are to have achieved this distinction, we know that product quality and customer satisfaction are never-ending goals for both Sea Ray and the marine industry in general. We plan to continue investing in technology, processes and people to ensure we live up to our customers' expectations, not only in our express cruiser segment but also throughout our product line from our entry-level sport boats to our yachts."
Rob Noyes, vice president of marketing for Sea Ray, commented, "The J.D. Power and Associates award is a very credible and prestigious third-party acknowledgement of our product quality and customer satisfaction in boats 24 - 33 feet in length. This year, we also have been fortunate to receive third-party recognition by winning the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) award for customer satisfaction in the sport boat category, which represents boats 17- 29 feet in length."
According to Noyes, "As Sea Ray continues to earn awards on product quality, we continue to provide our customers with boats that fit their needs and reinforce our brand promise. This commitment to our brand and our customers is part of the 46-year Sea Ray tradition of forward thinking that has been honed under Cynthia Trudell's leadership and vision. During Cynthia's tenure as president of Sea Ray, we have analyzed every facet of our business, we have reinvested in cutting-edge technology, we have given our people new tools to design boats faster and better, and most importantly, we are able to deliver boats that fit our customers' boating lifestyle."
Ms. Trudell added, "Everything we do is a continuation of our great tradition started 46 years ago by C.N. Ray. If we build quality boats and continue to evoke customer enthusiasm, we will turn casual boaters into lifetime boaters; we will create multi-generational families of boaters, and we will continue to ensure that Sea Ray continues to be the leading brand on the water today. Assisting us in this effort will be our dealers. The J.D. Power and Associates study points to the important role of dealers and manufacturers working together to meet customer expectations for both product quality and service."
"Sea Ray works closely with all of our dealers through the Master Dealer, Ambassador, and Sea Ray Owner programs," Trudell explained. "We believe this effort is without equal in the boating industry. These programs are designed to deliver higher customer satisfaction, not only with the product, but also with the entire buying and ownership experience."
