When it comes to antifouling, boaters usually don't think about light blue or orange. But now owners can create tailored bottom paint hues with the
customizable colors of Vivid from Pettit Marine Paint.
One of many businesses utilizing Vivid's color combinations is Berkeley, California boatyard Berkeley Marine Center. Here, custom hues are developed by mixing base tints of Vivid black, yellow, red, blue, green and white.
When the owner of fishing boat Reel Lucky wanted a unique look, Berkeley combined one part blue and four parts white of Vivid to create a beautiful baby blue hull. To complement the bright blue stripe on another customer's boat, Rodbender, they combined four parts blue and one part red to produce a perfect match.
"Owners are using the custom mixing attributes of Vivid to design hues that match their personality, grab attention, or just reflect a truly unique look," said John Ludgate, Pettit general manager. "I know many of our yards are helping customers develop attractive antifouling options for their boats. Berkeley was one of the first California yards to do this, and others nationwide are following."
A multi-season antifouling with dual biocides, Vivid provides highly effective protection against aggressive fouling and slime. Ideal for high-performance, racing, sailing and trailerable boats, it has a hard, burnishable finish.
