The perfect run for a water skier or wakeboarder combines the best execution and conditions. To help ski boats produce every bit of performance they're capable of, Lenco Marine adds specially-designed trim and wedge control boxes to its line of innovative products.
Control box design depends on each manufacturer's specifications. Devices
can incorporate wedges, single or dual trim tabs and any number of specifically designed actuators. A variety of applications is currently on the market.
In one system, the control box helps maintain the exact speed required in competitive skiing. A delay on the instantaneous retraction allows skiers to be safely changed out, without moving tabs that have already been set for optimal performance.
Some systems are designed to automatically monitor the engine RPMs, via a boat's onboard computer or a mechanical device, and automatically adjust the positioning of the tabs. To really tweak performance in the mid-RPM range, automatic features can be overridden. With the use of the onboard computer, the control box can determine the exact position of the trim tabs or wedge.
To prevent damage or injury at higher speeds, an optional feature can prevent trim adjustments. The wedge or tab can't be operated until speed is reduced. Conversely, at low speeds, module safety features allow wedge deployment in a downward direction only.
When power is removed from nearly any system, the wedge or trim tab retracts into an up position and the unit ceases operation. When power is restored, it remembers the wedge's last position and returns it to that point.
Malibu, Mastercraft and Calabria are among the ski-boat companies with whom Lenco is working to develop these innovative trim systems.
