COBALT 343 POWERED BY 6LY3-ETP DEBUTS IN MIAMI |

Cobalt Boats will introduce its 343 Technology Concept boat, powered by a Yanmar 6LY3-ETP, at the Miami International Boat Show February 16-20.
The first in Yanmar's range of electronic control diesels, the 6LY3-ETP has a superior power-to-weight ratio. With dimensions of a competitor's 300 hp engine, it is the lightest and most compact 480 hp engine on the market.
The Yanmar 6 cylinder, inter-cooled in-line-six 6LY3-ETP is reverse mounted in the engine compartment and located directly over the propeller shaft. It is coupled with a ZF Ring-Drive surface drive that allows the propeller to operate much closer to the transom than traditional surface drives.
The gearbox is mounted against the stepped hull and the propeller shaft runs in an external tunnel, underneath the engine. The concept boat compresses the ZF-drive system, shifting the engine back. This space saving orientation gives boaters valuable room in the engine compartment.
