Fishing in Ketchikan has always been the main industry. Ketchikan, Alaska is surrounded by healthy rivers that draw thousands upon thousands of salmon back to the area every year. Ketchikan was developed when the salmon canneries came in to process the Alaskan salmon fishermen's catch. We're located just under 700 miles from Seattle. Alaska Airlines flies in 4 to 5 times a day with a short 1 hour and forty five minute flight from Seattle.
