History of Alumacraft Boats Alumacraft started producing boats in 1946, when After the World War II, Flour City president Henry J. Neils found himself with a surplus of aluminum and a staff of skilled metalworkers. The company was based in Minneapolis. In 1954 the first Alumacraft runabout was introduced, which featured the first self draining transom splash pan. In the late 1980's Alumacraft re-located to St. Peter, Minnesota.
