History of Larson Boats
Larson Boats was founded in 1913 by Paul Larson at age 19. By the mid 1920’s Larson had built a new manufacturing facility to handle the growing demand for his wood boats. In 1938 Larson introduced the Falls Flyer, which was a sleek and stylish wooden boat. Larson eventually patented the design for the Falls Flyer. Today Falls Flyer boats are cherished by collectors. In the 1950’s Larson adapted to fiberglass, which was stronger, lighter, and more watertight than wood. Larson introduced the All-American line in the late 1950’s. Larson Boats claims this is the largest selling runabout ever produced. Larson Boats continued the production of the All-American line into the 1990’s. By 1969 Larson was the largest fiberglass runabout manufacturer in the world.
In the 1980’s Larson Boats patented the Delta-Conic Hull. In the late 1980’s Larson boats was acquired by Irwin Jacobs, and became part of Genmar Industries.
