The following document will provide guidelines on how to ask questions the smart way, how to answer to best help your peers.

General

1. Be polite. This is a user forum and we we are here to help each other. Please and thank you can get you a long way.

2. Respect the moderators, we provide a service and we are not here to make life harder for anyone. Any decision taken by the administrators and moderators is final and will be respected. We will remove any post we find abusive. If you have some suggestions or feedback.

3. Please try to be specific with your question(s). The more specific your question(s), the better chance there is for it to be answered. Although many we wish we had the skill, we are not mind readers.

4. There is no such thing as a stupid question. There was a time when we knew nothing about boating. If you don't ask, you won't learn.

5. Please stay on topic. If you are reading a post/thread that pertains to a certain topic, please don't ask another question (somewhat related to this topic) within this thread. Create another topic for your question. Chances are, if you ask a different question within a given topic it may not be answered.

6. Please be patient for a response. Many of the moderators have lives outside of boating (believe it or not), so it may be a day or so before you get a response.

7. Commercial and promotional posts are not allowed, and will be removed.

8. Flaming and personal attacks may get you banished from our boards.

9. You are responsible for your own posts and agree not to hold Netboater (netboater.com) liable for any messages posted.

10. You will not copy and retransmit any information out of these forums without first getting the permission of the original author of the message and a netboater.com administrator.

11. Post in the correct section. Our forum is divided into sections to make it easier to read and maintain. Read each sections description before posting. If you misplace your thread, don't repost it, simply report it to a moderator using the "Report" button and tell the moderators to move it.

12. Report bad posts. If you discover an abusive post or someone posting a thread in the wrong section, report it to the moderators using the "Report" button.

13. Go easy on the images, they may help to explain something more clearly or indicate a problem you are experiencing better but you have to remember that not everyone has the same amount of bandwidth to waste on downloading large image files. If you feel you have to post images, make sure that they're properly compressed and no more than 100KB at the absolute most.


Remember:
Use proper English.
Add whitespace to your posts. Use enter for paragraphs.
Capitalize Correctly. All uppercase is considered screaming and very rude. All lower is hard to read.
Use correct punctuation. Never use more than one question mark or exclamation mark and only at the end of a sentence.
Never use colors in all of your posts. Colors are there to highlight something important.
Read your post over before posting it. Try to catch typos.
