I am considering buying a 9.8HP kicker for my boat. I own a 17"Maycraft CC. It is built on the Mako style (people often ask if it is a Mako). The transom is the U style with just enough room for my 55Hp. Suzuki. The lip in the place I'm considering mounting the kicker is about 3 inches wide. I was told that I need to mount the unit up high and use a long shaft motor. My question is three fold. What type bracket do I need to use, where can I get it and how do I mount it? I am counting up the cost of doing this job before I start so that I don't get stuck in the middle and hate I did it. OR, tell me what else I can do if my idea is all wrong. What about support. Will the installation be strong? Thanks in advance.
I can send a photo of transom if needed.

I've got a 16' aluminum boat that I use my 6 hp Evinrude on as a kicker. It works wery well. And yes, you will need a 20" shaft (commonly called a "long shaft").
